My handle and this site are named after the Eurasian magpie (Pica pica). Magpies[1] are believed to be among the most intelligent animals alive today. Observing how they interact with each other and their environment is fascinating. Magpies seem to thrive even in the harsh winters of the Arctic. They are highly adaptable, as we are.
The colors used to theme this website are inspired by the distinctive iridescent sheen that can be seen on wings and plumage of magpies.
